A Day at the NFL Offices With the #VZWBuzz Team
I'm part of a group of online insiders that Verizon gives access to news, technology and experiences.
Last week a group of us from the east coast were treated to a day at the NFL Offices in New York City.
As a lifelong football fan, I was excited about the location. Granted, we got bumped to the basement for the day, but even there I couldn't help but smile at the hallway outside of our room.
The day was to be filled with Verizon sharing the latest information on the new Droid Turbo, Galaxy Note 4 and Sony Xperia Z3v phones. All have some impressive features under the covers with the Turbo getting my attention for the extra long battery life it promises, but I wonder if it lives up to the claims or not with heavy use.
We also heard about the Together We Make Football campaign from the NFL which is in it's second year.
Of course, I love these stories from around the country and like how the first year it focused on individuals and this year on community. I can't wait to see who the finalists are when they are announced. No sneak peeks for us :(
The highlight for me was when we received a presentation from the Verizon Foundation. This is exactly the type of work I want to help companies embrace and why I started Never Enough Days.
Verizon is focusing their giving back on education, healthcare and energy. They know that by supporting STEM initiatives, they are insuring that there is a next generation of employees to keep them ahead of the curve.
If you've never seen their #InspireHerMind campaign, you must watch it now.
We were shown some of the projected top selling accessories for the holidays including a smart soccer ball, new speakers from Sony and Bose and this silly jumping drone that I know Dylan would love terrorizing our cats (and his sister) with.
Before we left, we were given a tour of the offices.
It was neat to go inside of the room where every challenge is reviewed during all NFL games. I had to ask why there were Xbox controllers at every desk and it turns out that they are used as a remote to control the videos when they are reviewing them. Who knew?
The trip was a short one, but once again I was given access to an experience that I never thought I'd get in this life. Thank you to the entire #VZWBuzz team for inviting me to be part of it.
Disclosure - Verizon paid for my trip to NYC, as well as fed and provided me shelter there. The words, images and thoughts of course are my own special variety of rambling.
