Fall Catch-Up

Every morning I read the words that Seth Godin has written to share with the world. Some days there are only a few sentences, others lengthy paragraphs.

He writes every day and I respect that level of habit and discipline.

I noticed as I was working on my site this weekend that it has been over a month since I last wrote something here. That doesn't mean I haven't been writing, but it has been in other places and not all for public consumption.

Last week I did a fun interview on the Chats With Chip podcast. We talked a lot about my love of teaching and my hopes that higher education will evolve to allow people like me permanent roles in their world.

A few weeks before that I got together with some friends that I don't see in person often enough and we sat down to record an episode of the Red Teams podcast. That conversation covered everything from everything under the sun and the quality time with friends away from everything was good for the soul.

I've been happily busy this fall teaching at Wheaton. With three classes and advisor duties, it has been a constant flow of smiles and feel goods for me. I love when students pass by my office and will pop in for a quick hello or to update me on their latest news. I feel like part of the community there and every day I'm meeting someone new or getting involved in something else that embeds me further. It feels good and right and I hope it goes on for a very long time.

Tomorrow we all have one thing to do and that is to vote. I've never understood those who choose not to vote. It should be mandatory and easy. Too many people have shed blood for us to have this right and to ignore it makes no sense to me. Take the time and do your duty tomorrow.

A catch-up post and nothing more, but enough to kick the tires here and make sure everything is working properly.

Now that I got these words out, I need to go get my #NaNoWriMo words out. Not writing a novel this year, but rather a sequel of sorts to Amazing Things Will Happen but told through a fictional narrative. So far I'm having fun with it and the little challenges I've set up for myself are forcing my mind to work extra and I like it.
