The Once and Future PR Professional
Last night, I took part in a panel to discuss "The Once and Future PR Professional" put on by the Publicity Club of New England and hosted by SHIFT Communications.
It was an intimate conversation that covered a lot of ground.
I was honored to be on the panel with Steve Quigley from Boston University, Erica Seidel of The Connective Good and Liz Segran from Fast Company. We were moderated by Amy Lyons, President at SHIFT and she did a great job keeping the conversation flowing and everything on track.
We discussed how colleges need to evolve to insure that students are graduating with the skills the marketplace craves. There was plenty of talk about the modern relationship between journalists and those that pitch them. Questions were varied and challenging at the same time.
I joked how I was glad we would not be appearing on the Congrats, You Have An All Male Panel site and we discussed how I'm not a fan of the site because it feels like it is shaming the participants rather than the organizers who should be if anyone is. I always prefer being on a panel full of diversity and last night certainly achieved that.
There will be other posts written and shared about nuggets taken away from the night. I just wanted to share this to say thank you to the organizers for inviting me to sit on the couch next to such a variety of talent.
Thank you to Sarah Muscarella for permission to use her photographs from the night.
