ONE AYA Summit

Checking in for a trip is always when it becomes real to me.

For months, I've been excited to share that I was speaking a the ONE #AYASummit at Google headquarters in Washington, DC.

The AYA Summit will focus on issues facing girls and women in the developing world, with special emphasis on Sub-Saharan Africa. Focus will be given to how each one of us can use the power of our voice to make a difference for families who live there.

I'm speaking on a panel called Tweet to Shot and will be on stage along side representatives from GAVI, The Gates Foundation, American Academy of Pediatrics and the US Senate. Yup, little old me on a panel with that level of people. I can't help but shake my head, smile and wonder how I got here.

On top of that, I know that many of my fellow ONE Girls and Women Advisory Board members will be in attendance and it has been far too long since I have seen many of these amazing women.

I don't believe the event is being live-streamed, but I know updates will be shared on their Facebook and Twitter accounts so follow those for the latest information.

When I tell people that I want to do work that matters, this is exactly what I'm talking about.
