This has been a long and short week all at the same time. After taking off some time for the holidays, it was less then easy to get back into the swing of things. Everyone was in a sort of haze trying to kick start the new year and figure out which obstacle to attack first. I've been mainly focused on writing this week and it is a totally different kind of focus then the usual day to day of my life.
For me to be most effective in writing I've got to turn everything else off. But, when your running a company and have a family that isn't quite easy. I've found that I'm most prolific late at night or early in the morning before there are too many distractions. I pop on my Bose headphones, play some tunes and push forward. Of course there are only so many hours in the day for that and there are not enough.
Yesterday, I was excited to interview the CEO of Evernote for Managing The Gray. Interviews are not my favorite thing to do unless I'm face-to-face with the person, but I couldn't pass up this opportunity since I love the product. I was also excited yesterday to read on Mashable about NIN giving away over 400 GB of HD video footage from their last tour. I started downloading one of the shows and I expect it to finish sometime next week. The reality of just how much that is hits home as I see how on the left the progress bar still is.
I'm also excited because I'm helping my friend Tom Acousti do more online and that always excites me. It is the least I can do since his music has been helping me write.
I'm pushing productivity this week, but it feels like I'm going uphill in molasses sometimes which doesn't make it as good as it could be.
