I've always had the concept of a Morning Surf in my life. This is when I first turn on the computer and go through the same set of actions. This has evolved over time and now of course includes looking through my RSS feeds, checking e-mail and scanning a handful of sites and social networks. I do this over my morning coffee and today a breakfast bar. What I miss is in my old office I had a TV and thus would have the Today Show or CNN on in the background. I can easily listen to multiple conversations so I don't need to actually watch the news but can still consume it by just listening. Since we moved I don't have this set up in my office so a couple times a week I'll spend the first few hours of my work day in the living room. Today was one of those days and I always feel better when I do this.
I really needed to do this today because I wanted to hear the latest on Iowa. While I don't talk about it a whole lot, I'm very into politics and this year is going to be an interesting one. These next couple of weeks are going to be huge in the political space and I'm psyched some people I consider good friends just launched a new site for The Talk Radio News Service. They are leveraging lots of new media tools instead of filtering everything through a big old school news filter. I'm hoping to hook up with them when they are in New Hampshire next week. Kudos to the whole team behind making this happen.
If you are curious, my vote is currently going to Obama with Edwards being a very close second. 2008 is going to be a hell of an interesting year if for nothing else then the whole election process. I'm really hoping to be celebrating in November rather then the sucker punch feeling I had a few years ago.
